A warm welcome back to Dr Hugo Alcaraz Herrera, who joins the University of Bristol as a Teaching Associate on the MSc Financial Technology with Data Science programme. Hugo completed his PhD on evolutionary and coevolutionary computation with us at FEL in 2023. He then joined the University of the West of England as a Postdoctoral Research Associate, applying neuroevolution techniques to the design of soft robots. In 2025, Hugo received the Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Evolutionary Computation Theory and Applications (ECTA). Returning to FEL, his research now focuses on applications of evolutionary computation in finance.
